What this calculator does
This tool compares a simplified eligible medical-claim scenario. It estimates the premium plus the portion above a coverage limit and the selected deductible. It does not determine whether an event is covered, predict a claim decision or replace the issued policy wording.
Use identical traveller, destination and trip inputs when collecting quotations. Read the UAE travel insurance cost guide first if you need help understanding why prices differ.
Two-plan comparison calculator
Important: Enter only an amount already assumed to be eligible. Real claims depend on eligibility, definitions, exclusions, sub-limits, evidence, currency conversion and approval requirements. Values are processed in your browser and are not submitted to BRERPSoft.
How the calculation works
| Step | Calculation |
|---|---|
| Amount within limit | Lower of the illustrative eligible expense and medical limit |
| Deductible | Fixed amount, percentage of the amount within limit, or zero |
| Illustrated considered amount | Amount within limit minus deductible |
| Traveller scenario cost | Premium plus expense not included in the illustrated considered amount |
For detailed examples, see the fixed, percentage and zero-deductible guide. The calculator deliberately does not include cancellation or baggage because those benefits use different covered reasons, sub-limits and evidence.

Primary sources and limitations
The CDC Yellow Book distinguishes travel health, trip-disruption and medical-evacuation insurance and notes that travellers may face upfront overseas costs. The FCDO guidance recommends checking trip length, medical treatment, evacuation, pre-existing conditions, activities, destinations and exclusions. UAE insurance supervision is described by the Central Bank of the UAE.

Calculator FAQs
Does this calculator tell me which travel insurance plan to buy?
No. It illustrates how premium, limit and deductible can affect one assumed eligible medical expense. It does not assess eligibility, exclusions or personal suitability.
Are my calculator inputs stored?
No. The calculation runs locally in your browser and the tool does not submit these values to BRERPSoft.
What should I enter as the eligible medical expense?
Use a hypothetical amount for comparison. Eligibility is determined only by the issued contract and claim facts, not by this tool.
Why does the calculator add the premium?
The result shows an illustrative total scenario cost: the price paid for the plan plus the assumed expense not included after the limit and deductible calculation.
Does zero deductible mean the claim will be paid in full?
No. Exclusions, sub-limits, evidence requirements, currency rules and non-covered services can still reduce or prevent payment.
Can I use this calculator for cancellation or baggage benefits?
Not reliably. Cancellation and baggage use different covered reasons, limits, item caps and evidence, so they require a separate comparison.
